R7s LED 78 mm: Perfect light for the home
In order to create a comfortable living feeling, the right lighting is the be-all and end-all. This is about a balance between light and shadow. This is quite easy with modern R7s LED 78mm bulbs.
What to expect in this article
Lighting with R7s LED 78mm and other light sources: lamps illuminate zones
Before it comes to R7s LED 78mm bulbs, the right lighting is an important issue. Ideally, three different light sources are mixed together. In this case, an indirect light should be generated, since unobtrusive and soft lighting can be achieved with it.
The light is distributed more evenly, there are hardly any shadows. The eyes thus tire less quickly. In order to get a brighter light at one point, it is worthwhile to integrate a spot light or spot lighting into the lighting concept.
Using three light sources in combination
These light sources should be taken into account when planning the lighting of the living room:
-
Background illumination
A large lamp on the ceiling provides the necessary backlight. Ceiling washlights or spotlights can also be mounted here. It is ideal if the luminaires have a dimmer so that they can be adjusted in brightness. Such lighting is suitable in all rooms and distributes the light very evenly.
-
Accent lighting
The accent lighting provides a little variety and can have an invigorating or concealing effect. This type of light is probably used in a dosed manner and directs the viewer’s gaze to a certain point. For example, decorative objects can be illuminated. But the accent lighting should not be too flashy either, because then other areas would completely fade into the background.
-
Work lighting
This type of lighting is important for all places where concentrated work should be possible. The desk, sofa, reading corner and kitchen are provided with work lighting that is purposeful and rich in contrast. It illuminates exactly this area and is not responsible for illuminating the rest of the room areas.
Modern lighting with R7s LED 78mm bulbs
Modernity R7s LED Spotlight are an excellent way to implement the optimal lighting concept in an energy-saving way. These are lamps, which are also referred to as rod lamps, whereby the modern R7s LED 78mm lamps no longer have much in common with the original halogen lamps. Gaseous light sources have not been used here for a long time, therefore a hermetically sealed power connection is no longer necessary. As with other LEDs, no heat develops during the application of the lamps, so you do not need a special protective glass.
Different lengths and watts for R7s LED
If we are talking about R7s LED 78mm, then they have the standardized length of 78 mm. They are used for lamps from 5 to 12 watts. With R7s LED 118mm, on the other hand, lamps up to 22 watts are used. Important: This is the LED version! Conventional R7s without LEDs, on the other hand, can be used in a watt range from 60 to 150 or from 150 to 500. However, LEDs have a significantly longer service life, the full luminous intensity is also available directly after switching on. A warm-up is not necessary. This is not only associated with a significant saving in electricity, but thanks to the longer service life, the lamps also have to be replaced less frequently.
Other versions of the R7s LED 78mm
No matter whether it is R7s LED 78mm or a lamp of a different length: they are all available in different versions. This applies, for example, to the light color:
- R7s LED 78mm in warm white
- R7s LED 78mm in cold white
A warm white light color is often used for living rooms. It looks inviting and cozy. A cool white light color, on the other hand, supports concentration, it looks cooler and more focused. It is especially useful in corridors and in the work area.
Well-planned interior design with light
Whether R7s LED 78mm is used or placed on other light sources: In order to lighting the apartment properly to be able to, lighting planning is indispensable. Already during the construction of the house, it should therefore be determined which room has which purpose and how it should be illuminated. Accordingly, the power connections are to be laid. In the best case, furniture and decorative objects are already taken into account in the lighting design.
6 Tips for Home Lighting
The appropriate living room lighting includes both background and accent lighting. This can cause various effects. The backlight may be designed with warm light in any room, but corridors are usually equipped with cold white light. Tip: Bathrooms and work areas need a special lighting concept. More tips will follow here:
-
Creating effects with sconces
Wall lamps can be used to specifically emphasize special areas of a room. This also makes it possible to clarify the depth of a room. Furniture and pictures can be deliberately staged. Important: The wall lighting should never be installed deeper than 180 cm so that there is no glare effect. Lamps above a table can serve well as adjustable pendant lamps. They should also be dimmable, so that the cozy get-together with family and friends is possible in a softer light.
-
Observe the light intensity
The luminous intensity is given in lumens and abbreviated with “lm”. The more lumens a lamp has, the brighter it can shine. For example, a light bulb with 40 watts brings 430 lumens, at 60 watts it is already 730 lumens. To calculate the appropriate light intensity, there is a rule of thumb: in the living room it should be 100 lumens per square meter (lm / m2), in the bedroom and hallway 120 lm/m2. The kitchen, bathroom and study are illuminated more strongly, lamps are allowed to shine here with 300 lm / m2. This results in the following for the Lighting in the living room with a room size of 20 m2, a luminous intensity of 2000 lumens.
-
Integrating islands of light
If a room is completely illuminated, it quickly becomes monotonous and gives a feeling like in a waiting room. Light islands are therefore the better choice: individual areas are illuminated separately and alternate with less illuminated areas. Pendant lamps and reading lamps, but also individual wall lamps can create an island of light.
-
Do not achieve a glare effect
When installing the lighting, it is of the utmost importance that a glare effect is avoided. Anyone who enters the room and is first blinded frontally does not want to enter at all and will not feel comfortable in the room either. Lamps should therefore always be shielded so that this effect is avoided.
-
Installing motion detectors and night lights
If you have to get up at night and turn on the ceiling lamp for this, in the worst case, you will first be so awake that it is impossible to think about continuing to sleep. A small night light provides minimal illumination, which is just sufficient for orientation. Motion detectors can also be helpful. They turn on when moving and thus illuminate the way across the hallway or around the dresser. They turn off again after a short time and do not permanently immerse the room in light. Such motion detectors are also suitable for corridors and stairs, whereby the light on the stairs should be significantly brighter to avoid tripping. Illuminated light switches are also useful, which make orientation in the dark much easier.
-
Stylistically adjust the light
There are beautiful lamps and lights, but not all of them match each other stylistically. When developing a lighting concept, it is therefore important that all lights really harmonize with each other, at least in one room. If a break in style is desired here, it must be done wisely. The lights and lamps should match the furniture and, of course, should still be a highlight – in the truest sense of the word. Important: while, for example, the sofa is replaced after a few years, very few people change the lamps in a room. Therefore, it makes sense to choose them so that they fit different pieces of furniture.
