We spend a lot of time in the bathroom because the first thing we do in the morning is go to the bathroom and in the evening the bathroom is the last stop before going to bed. Nice baths have a big influence on whether we start the day in a good mood and go to bed relaxed in the evening. Back in 2017, we presented ten ideas for bathroom design.

The finale is an absolute classic of bathroom design that has always been modern and will certainly remain so.
Bathroom design: This life hack can help
To ensure that your bathroom at home becomes a place of peace and that you feel really comfortable in this room, it’s all about the details. A tiled bathroom, for example, offers a beautiful, smooth surface that never goes out of style. But then the question arises as to how you can store your different utensils in the bathroom. You often need towels, a hairdryer and other everyday items to hand. But do you have to drill through the tile joints and use dowels? This can quickly spoil the overall impression in the bathroom. For this reason, we started looking for alternatives.

1. Freestanding bathtub
A freestanding bathtub sets an interesting design accent in the bathroom and is also extremely practical because it can be placed anywhere in the bathroom. This allows completely new furnishing options to be realized. Such a bathtub looks very stylish when it is actually placed freely in the room. The tub is accessible from every side and, thanks to its ergonomic shape, offers an excellent lying position that invites you to take a relaxing bath.
These bathtubs are reminiscent of beautiful bathrooms from earlier times and create an attractive contrast between nostalgic flair and modern bathroom design. In combination with other white design elements and some colored accents, the design-oriented bathtub comes into its own.
2. Loft-style bathroom
Fans of minimalist interiors will love creating beautiful loft-style bathrooms. The design of all design elements is clear and straightforward and reduced to pure functionality. Wall and floor tiles with a cool stone look and rough plastered walls underline this style. A modern ambience is created with a simple free-standing bathtub and a matching washbasin with white top bowls. Design fans who love clear lines and want to design their bathroom with as little frills as possible will feel at home in this bathroom.
3. Bathroom design in white and yellow
What initially sounds like a bathroom in bright colors in the style of the 70s is actually a current bathroom trend with soft tones that are more similar to delicate natural tones than bright colors. The wall tiles are slightly marbled and shimmer in a subtle sunny yellow, which puts you in a good mood and brings brightness into the bathroom even on a gray November morning. The floor is designed with large-format brown tiles that harmoniously match the wall tiles.
A freestanding white bathtub, wall-mounted silver radiators with towel rail function and large windows on two sides complete the look.
4. Modern, white and luxurious
White is the classic color for furnishing beautiful bathrooms and this example impressively proves that a white bathroom doesn’t have to be boring. The washbasin with the luxurious attachment bowl, the modern mirror wall cabinet and the toilet are bright white and have a simple and elegant design.
The absolute eye-catcher of the bathroom is the spacious shower cubicle, which can be better described as a shower area that can comfortably accommodate more than one person. The shower area is designed to be barrier-free at ground level and separated from the room with a high-quality glass front, half of which functions as a door.
5. Classic luxury, interpreted in a modern way
For all fans of the classic interior style, this is an example of beautiful bathrooms. The walls are not tiled, but painted in a warm green. Where moisture protection is required, i.e. behind the corner bathtub, in the shower cubicle and above the washbasin, elegant gray artificial stone slabs were chosen as wall cladding, which also cover the large corner bathtub. Both the bathtub and the shower cubicle are luxuriously equipped.
An absolute eye-catcher is the large washbasin made of fine wood, which has many functional drawers and doors. The look of this elegant bathroom is rounded off by floor tiles in a light beige.
6. Fresh look in light green
If white is too boring for you and if you don’t like muted colors, you will be thrilled by this stylish bathroom in bright green. The color green is known for its calming, balancing effect. In this case, the fresh green also has a revitalizing effect and ensures that you start the day with energy. The simple bathtub, placed under the window, is covered with small light green tiles and is equipped with a practical step that makes it easier to get into and runs the entire length.
A washbasin in the same color and the light green wall color round off the color concept. White borders and the diagonally tiled dark anthracite floor create an attractive contrast.
7. Design bathroom in red
This bathroom is also an excellent example of the fact that the time for boring bathrooms is long gone. The eye-catcher is the beautiful, free-standing bathtub in bright red. Three narrow wall cabinets were placed above it, which are simple in shape, but also draw attention to this area of the bathroom thanks to the color scheme in fuchsia, sunny yellow and bright green.
The red of the bathtub can also be found in the top bowls on the otherwise plain white washbasins and in the hanging lights. Modern silver-colored fittings as well as large, square mirrors and white, shiny floor tiles complete the design. The walls are simply painted anthracite.
8. Modern bathroom with colorful wall design
Simple and straight-lined without appearing monotonous: beautiful bathrooms impress with modern furnishing elements and colorful accents. In this example, a plain white bidet, the matching toilet and a white bathtub contrast with the red and green painted walls.
The cladding of the bathtub and the floor tiles in a light wood look provide a third color accent. The spacious shelf integrated into the bathtub panel is very eye-catching and functional. All in all, this design impresses with its combination of straight-line furnishings and cheerful wall colors.
9. Ethno-Style
Ethno style: That sounds like a trip to oriental countries, opulent patterns and colorful designs. The beautiful bathroom specifically uses elements of the ethnic look without sacrificing modernity. Marbled wall tiles in two different shades of green, some of which are decorated with red borders, form the frame.
The free-standing, white bathtub also underlines the style, as it floats above the floor and is held by round arches made of gold-colored metal on the sides, which also surround the entire edge of the bathtub. The fittings are also gold-colored, but their shape is simple and modern. The floor also reflects the mix of modern elements and ethnic style. Large-format white tiles are effectively combined with small green tiles.
10. Minimalist look with sunny accents
Floor-to-ceiling windows and a wall tiled in different shades of yellow form the visual framework of this beautiful bathroom. The yellow tiled wall looks more like a large mural and is an absolute eye-catcher, which is shown to its best advantage because all other design elements were deliberately kept simple.
A freestanding white bathtub and a white tiled floor ensure that the overall bathroom design is timelessly beautiful. Another eye-catcher is the innovative water supply to the bathtub, which was installed next to the bathtub in the form of an oversized faucet.
11. Art Deco Style
Beautiful bathrooms in the Art Deco style are something very special and take up the typical style elements from the 20s and 30s, when the Art Deco style conquered the world from Paris. In this bathroom, a retro-look freestanding bathtub on legs has been placed in front of a bright yellow wall covered in three-dimensional cassettes.
A simple faucet protrudes from the wall into the bathtub. The combination of retro style elements and modern technology makes this bathroom an elegant feel-good area in the apartment.
12. Opulent elegance and unique decorative elements
A counter-trend to the minimalist bathrooms are luxuriously furnished, beautiful bathrooms that do not skimp on decorative elements. This example fascinates with its bright yellow walls, against the background of which the white furnishings come into their own.
Spacious washbasins with a marbled top and embedded oval washbasins frame the luxurious corner bathtub. The fittings in a retro look and the oval mirrors, whose opulently decorated edges match the color of the fittings perfectly, are also eye-catchers. The equipment is completed by two three-bulb bathroom lights and a mural consisting of a column and leafy tendrils.
13. Southern flair in gold and orange
A combination of the warm tones of gold and orange gives this bathroom its incomparable look. The wall design is the dominant feature of the bathroom, as the walls are painted iridescent orange and a surrounding border in gold underlines the style. The border of the shower cubicle doors and the fittings are also gold-colored, whereas the sanitary objects are simply white.
Even the floor tiles match the color of the walls perfectly. The eye-catching mirror border in a warm dark red is also an eye-catcher.
14. Luxury bathroom with wooden furniture and gold accents
In this luxurious bathroom, several areas capture the eye. On the one hand, the combination of wooden furniture, which is arranged like a wall unit and takes up the entire front of the bathroom, is a real eye-catcher. The symmetrical structure with two side display cabinets and the large, centrally mounted mirror above the sink with gold fittings underlines the elegant style of this dignified bathroom.
Another eye-catching element is the free-standing bathtub with a retro look. Eye-catching gold-colored fixtures were installed in front of the tub. The elaborate wall design with tiles, a border and matching wallpaper in delicate beige and strong red tones is repeated in the floor tiles and rounds off the stylish design of this bathroom.
15. Stylish red bathroom with ceramic walls
This modern bathroom design is perfect for fans of extravagant living designs. Glossy red ceramic tiles line the floor and walls, with the lower part of one wall decorated with a wide border of small square tiles in various shades of red and beige.
A large washbasin is embedded in the simple, red washbasin, above which a three-part mirror has been placed. Silver fittings and white sanitaryware and shelves create a delightful contrast in this bathroom, which is a perfect example of beautiful, modern bathrooms.
16. A bathroom dream in pink
In this bathroom, at least visually, the walls play the main role, as the upper two thirds are decorated with large-format, pink tiles. These tiles are partly simple and partly decorated with a floral decoration in dark purple. The sanitary objects, the washbasin and the floor tiles are simply white and ensure that the eye-catching pink does not appear overwhelming.
Silver fittings and a shower cubicle separated by a glass door complete the furnishings. In addition to the pink tiles, the absolute highlight is the large mirror with its richly decorated, silver frame.
17. Modern minimalist bathroom
Beautiful bathrooms are increasingly becoming a living area in which people enjoy spending longer periods of time. This bathroom is an example of that. It follows the trend of free-standing bathtubs and otherwise looks more like a living room. The wood-look floor goes perfectly with the wooden bathroom cabinets.
A modern square washbasin has been embedded in the simple washbasin made of elegant dark gray natural stone. The white tiled wall behind it is broken up by subtle borders and the bright red wall behind the bathtub gives this chic bathroom the ultimate finishing touch.
18. Less is more: Bathroom with a shiny floor
Simple yet absolutely stylish, this design fascinates with the combination of a glossy white floor that reflects the light, a minimalistically designed white, free-standing bathtub and bathroom furniture in a light wood tone. Both the bathtub and the attachment bowl on the washbasin, the fittings and the furniture are reduced in design to the absolute bare essentials.
However, color comes into play with the wall design: the bright light blue walls give the bathroom a fresh, energetic ambience and harmonize perfectly with the other features.
19. Modern bathroom with blue furniture and walls
The color blue has a fresh and revitalizing effect and is therefore ideal for creating beautiful bathrooms. In this bathroom, azure blue accents are used in the design of the walls and the surround of the bathtub and the washbasin. Particularly striking are the blue wall behind the washbasin and the smart border of the bathtub, where the long side is designed as a generous shelf.
Otherwise, angular shapes and the color white dominate in this bathroom. A floor with a light wood look loosens up the cool color concept and gives the bathroom a homely flair.
20. Industrial loft style bathroom
A modern, cool design concept was realized in this bathroom. Light gray floor tiles and an extravagant wall design in light gray and anthracite create a cool ambience. The visual highlight and focal point is the high-quality free-standing bathtub in bright white with silver-colored fittings in an industrial style. Beautiful bathrooms can also be simple, this bathroom is a perfect example of that.
21. Timeless classic: Stylish bathroom in white and gold
In addition to the 20 ideas for a dream bathroom presented, there is also a classic that is absolutely timeless and finds enthusiastic fans in every generation: the stylish white bathroom with luxurious golden decorations. The example shown here indulges in golden luxury, as not only are the fittings and lamps gold, but also the floor and wall tiles, the radiator cover and the shower curtain. Shiny white bathroom furniture and a wide mirror front complete the elegant look.
