Five Tips For a Great Decoration

“Our home should become more beautiful! “This saying is well known in slightly modified form. But it says what is true: the house will only be made more attractive with a compilation of classic and personal decorations that offer an excellent feel-good factor.

It is not enough to set up a few vases and candles or to ensure that a house looks stylish using a lot of glass. It is essential to combine style and coziness, as well as individuality and classicism.

Here are the five best tips for decorating an apartment or a house:

1. Great Decorating With Books

Books, especially in some households, are almost forgotten and have to give way to tablets, smartphones, and e-book readers. They not only offer information but are also an excellent way to decorate! A bookshelf filled to the top with thick pages, guidebooks, and specialist and non-fiction books creates an intellectual impression and ensures coziness. The books swallow the sound alone, and the room looks more cozy.

But it doesn’t always have to be the well-known books on bookshelves against the walls up to the ceiling. A shelf can be used as a room divider and, with sufficient depth, can be stocked with books from each side. Due to the open shelf compartments, this room divider looks more friendly and ensures a harmonious room division.

However, books can also be stacked and formed into towers of different heights. Here, attention must be paid to the composition of the books: too colorful book spines make the stack restless and leave the eye no chance to find a resting place.

Therefore, placing books of similar color and approximately the same size on such stacks is better. If the stacks get into a possible fluctuation too much, decorative figures can serve as bookends.

2. Great Decorating Furniture With Textiles

The furniture alone often looks cold and sober in a room. The decoration makes the difference here and turns an apparent furniture warehouse into a room full of coziness. No one has to live in pillows; it is enough if a few pillows are made decoratively on the sofa or the armchair.

However, there are other details about the textile equipment. For example, carpets should be mentioned and placed in specific places in the room. Curtains and drapes are also counted in the textile area, making a room more cozy.

Everyone who has moved before probably knows the difference: a room without curtains looks cold and impersonal despite the furniture’s placement. As soon as curtains are installed, they become much more individual and, above all, more comfortable.

When decorating with textiles, the colors mustn’t be too colorful. Anyone in an Easter egg will hardly feel comfortable, mainly because the different colors affect people differently. Nevertheless, not everything has to be designed in one shade.

Only ensure that the colors are used within a color palette when decorating. If you want to live with pillows, choose a color similar to the carpet or blankets, which can be placed on the upholstered furniture.

3. Great Decoration With Indoor Plants

Living with pillows? It’s much less important than living with plants! This does not only mean bouquets placed in vases in obviously well-chosen places. Instead, it is about green houseplants, which have two benefits simultaneously. On the one hand, they positively affect the indoor climate and ensure that the oxygen content in the room increases.

On the other hand, they are decorative and can be placed on shelves and cabinets, on the window sill, on the side table, or anywhere else. At the same time, plant care must be taken to ensure that they do not become a nuisance.

If you place a hanging plant above the dining table, you will soon be annoyed by falling tendrils in the neck. Therefore, plants should be given the appropriate location for them and the house’s residents, be of proper size themselves, and, if necessary, be shortened if they become too large.

Plants with thin and delicate leaves should not be grown in rooms with windows that get a lot of sun. The rooms heat often in the summer, damaging the plants. Thick-leaved plants are much more suitable here.

On the other hand, palm-like plants live in rooms with a lot of light but do not get too warm and provide sufficient humidity. They can also be used to decorate the bathroom nicely!

4. Great Decoration With The Appropriate Lighting

Not only are pillows suitable as decorations for any room, but the proper lighting is also a true all-rounder. Different light sources are a good idea, especially in the living room.

It is ideal if a central light source illuminates the entire room or at least one-half of the room. In addition, there are other lamps and luminaires that, for example, draw attention to a certain point in the room as a spot.

Table and floor lamps are just as well suited as lamps that look very decorative, like candles, even when turned off. If the lighting is also dimmable, the decoration is perfect.

Of course, this type of decoration also has practical uses and should be chosen accordingly. It must be possible to look beautiful in the living room and generate enough light to read or do sewing work, for example.

Tip: With the right lighting, the rest of the decoration also comes into its own much better, because the eye of the viewer can direct the light.

It should be noted that large rooms necessarily need a central ceiling light, which is considered an anchor point. On the other hand, small living rooms sometimes do entirely without this ceiling lamp and benefit from indirect lighting, making the room look larger.

5. Decorating With Small Accessories

Even if the entire decoration is practically thought out, small accessories accumulate over time, expressing a special coziness and individuality.

Vases and candles, a special glass in the showcase, small figurines, etc., create the impression of individuality. However, care should be taken to ensure that the impression never arises that it is a collection of knick-knacks from all over the world.

More tips for a great decoration

  • Vases are made of glass (always keep the flower water fresh and clean when using them)!
  • Decoteller
  • Photo frames with photos
  • Watches and mirrors
  • small figures
  • seasonal decorative items: candles, Santas, Easter bunnies, witches, etc.

However, a lot of decoration with small decorations for the house is not equally suitable for everyone. Many are absolute minimalists and would only feel overwhelmed with decoration. It should always be noted that the decoration indeed allows conclusions to be drawn about the residents’ personalities.

So, whoever surrounds themselves with things they do not like appears to be pretending. In addition, the decoration should also be quietly practical: if you put a lot of dust catchers on a shelf, you should remember that they also need to be cleaned regularly.

Decorating your home can begin with these great decorating tips. Many decoration friends are very flexible and at least redecorate the living room, for example, after the holiday. So, the holiday feeling can be preserved a little and assessed positively. Why not fill the decorative plate with shells and stones you collected? There are no limits to the ideas!
